Here, you can see the ruins of an ancient Portuguese fort, a couple of churches and the lighthouse. Next on your visit list is Mayyanad, visited for its temples and shrines. At a distance of 32 km is Oachira which is famous pilgrimage centre, unique in its sense. The place has no temples or idols of deities yet devotees flock here to worship and seek blessings of Parabraham. During your tour to Kollam, you can also make a visit to Kerala’s largest freshwater lake – Sasthamkotta. There’s yet another pilgrimage centre close to Kollam - Matha Amrithanandamayi Ashram. The spiritual centre keeps inviting devotees and pilgrims all the year round.
